Resource Description
Research on women's mental health shows that women are more likely to experience mental health challenges than men due to experiences of gender-based biases and violence. Hence, there is a need for mental health care to enhance gender-and culture-sensitive psychological practice with women and girls from all social classes, ethnic and racial groups, sexual orientations, and ability/ disability statuses in the United States.
The guidelines outlined in the document published by American Psychological Practice provide general recommendations for psychologists through conceptual and empirical evidence to understand gender role socialisation and its intersection with other identities to improve psychological practice with women and girls.
